By Richard Mather
Embosomed in stillful bliss no longer,
the Infinite Spirit moves, and by degrees
makes finite the substances of creation:
the first finiting of infinity, circulospiral.
Movement
gives rise to gases, rocks, minerals,
water, iron, brass, salt, sulphur, mercury,
and an atmosphere encircles the primitive sun:
a dull brightness like an enclouded
rainbow on a rainy day:
this was the appearance
of the luminescence round about.
