By Richard Mather
A cell
where everything happens
on the inside,
an inside without
an outside.
Only when there are objects
is there space
on the inside.
There is no outer world
and no need for doors, windows.
All I see on the inside
are the projections
of my own desires and ideas.
There are others
but they occupy
their own cells,
which are also doorless
and windowless.
My world is on the inside.
My sole relationship
is with the programmer, God.
He leaves me free
to pursue my appetites
in the isolation of this sacristy.
